Arab First Ladies Call for Greater Empowerment
Before the second AWO conference

Arab First Ladies called on Nov.11 for greater empowerment of women in the Arab World so as to play their vested role in serving and building their countries and communities on equal footing with their male partners and communicating with other peace-loving nations for the sake of maintaining and bolstering human security collectively. They stressed the need for promoting Arab-Arab and Arab-international dialogue cooperation for the service of human security causes. Speaking before the second Arab Women's Organisation (AWO) conference, hosted by the UAE at the Emirates Palace under the theme: "Women and human security: An Arab and International Perspective", the wives of Arab leaders hoped the three-day forum would serve as a promoter of cross cultural dialogue to arrive at a common ground of understanding and betterment of human security.

Kuwait City: Kuwait has placed restrictions on five companies accused of abusing foreign workers, most of them cleaners from Asian countries, the countyr's labour minister said on Thursday. The companies will be prevented from receiving government contracts and their business licenses could be revoked, Bader Al Duwailah was quoted as saying in the Al-Watan daily. Al Benaa Real Estate Teams Up with HCT for a Joint Venture
ABU DHABI-Al Benaa Real Estate Investment PJSC announced a joint venture agreement with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT on Sept. 27,2008. The programme will be based in Abu Dhabi, and will meet the needs of the UAE for training courses and diplomas in real estate and facilities and property management. The agreement was signed by H.H Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Mr. Hamad Saif Al Mansouri, Chairman of Al Benaa. The ceremony was conducted at HCT's Abu Dhabi Men's College Campus. This agreement represents an important development in private-public sector initiatives, combining Al Benaa's business capabilities and experience with HCT's outstanding track record in education that meets the needs of the UAE's economy and society.
